In January 2002,
Memorial Medical Center established a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt foundation
to raise funds to purchase capital equipment for the hospital. The
Foundation was formed with the express purpose of supporting the capital
expense needs of Memorial Medical Center.
Having state-of-the-art
diagnostic equipment is critical to the continued financial viability
of healthcare facilities. This is even more so at rural healthcare
facilities such as MMC where the goal is to deliver early detection
and diagnosis with convenience to those who come for medical care.
While this diagnostic equipment offers a valuable service to our inpatients,
the greatest area of revenue generation is derived from outpatient
diagnostic services. Over 70% of revenue comes from outpatient diagnostic
services.
The emergency
department is another of MMC's greatest assets. Emergency staff members
administer lifesaving measures to stabilize patients for transfer
to urban medical centers providing higher levels of care. Their work
is made all the more effective because of the diagnostic equipment
available at MMC.
