INFECTION PREVENTION

Infection Prevention: It is our mission to promote patient safety by reducing the risk of acquiring and transmitting infections. This is accomplished through education, ongoing surveillance, and action. We are aggressive and proactive in our infection prevention efforts, adopting the newest national standards and evidence based practices. As the current knowledge of infection transmission and disease is constantly evolving, Memorial Medical Center continuously evaluates its infection prevention protocols, and ensures their employees understand the proper implementation of infection prevention measures. Our Infection Preventionist continually monitors our facilities procedures for compliance with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), U.S. Dept. of Labor Occupation Safety & Health Administration, APIC, National Patient Safety Foundation and other recommending professional organizations. Our Infection Prevention Nurse reports our facilities Hospital Acquired Infection data to NHSN (National Healthcare Safety Network) which enables us to benchmark our facility with other facilities across the nation.

When traveling throughout the facility please remember the importance of washing your hands when entering and exiting any patient care area. This is for the protection of our patients, visitors, and employees. Also, you will see automatic hand sanitizer dispensers located on the walls throughout the hospital. Please feel free to use this to further help our infection prevention efforts. Hand hygiene is one of the single most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others!
