For A Quicker Diagnosis
New radiographic images now available at
Memorial Medical Center
New
radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment at Memorial Medical Center
in Port Lavaca offers patients a high-resolution look inside the human
body, delivering a clearer, faster image for diagnosis and treatment
and less exposure to x-rays for patients.
Complementing
the traditional method of exposing and developing film, the new equipment,
called Advantx Legacy-D, captures a digital image that is almost immediately
available on screen for viewing. This type of equipment, typically
only available in larger urban hospitals, is a tremendous asset to
Memorial Medical Center and the patients it serves.
These
advances translate to a quicker diagnosis, which can be critical if
you come to the hospital suffering from an acute illness or serious
injury. As soon as the imaging is completed, physicians have images
that will indicate whether immediate surgery or other treatment is
needed; and the resolution is twice as sharp and clear as existing
analog equipment. Physicians can see minute details that were previously
undetectable.
Imaging
that is produced in a fraction of the time required by traditional
equipment reduces the patient's radiographic exposure in fluoroscopic
procedures. Another advantage is that the new equipment provides increased
anatomical coverage for patients of all shapes and sizes. That means
fewer exposures to capture needed images. Additionally, the new digital
radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment will expand the diagnostic
capabilities of the hospital. The radiology system can handle everything
from routine radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging to interventional
procedures and angiography.
This
new equipment also simplifies the storage of and access to images.
Instead of films tucked away in file shelves, the digital images are
stored on a computer hard drive for easy retrieval and examination.
