Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Our patients experience improved self-confidence and increased involvement in daily activities. Through the combination of our staff expertise and our commitment to work closely with patients, we aim to reduce hospitalizations, increase independence, and lessen complications of cardiac and pulmonary disease.


Expected Outcomes:
Increased physical conditioning.
Increased stamina and endurance.
Improved quality of life.
Reduced hospital readmissions.
Reduced length of stay if hospitalized.
Possible reduction in medication costs.


Cardiac Rehabilitation

Optimizing patients' physical, psychological, and social functioning through exercise conditioning, strength training, diet, relaxation, education, and emotional support.

Candidates include those who have experienced:
A heart attack or heart failure.
Angioplasty or coronary artery bypass grafting for coronary heart disease.
A heart valve repair or replacement.
A heart transplant.
Angina.


Pulmonary Rehab/RT

Exercise conditioning, strength training, breathing retraining, activities of daily living, education, and emotional support for pulmonary and respiratory patients.

Treatment is offered for chronic obstructive and restrictive pulmonary diseases, including:
COPD.
Emphysema.
Lung cancer.
Chronic bronchitis.
Asthma.
Interstitial lung disease.


Behavioral Health

Enhancing coping skills and providing emotional support for cardiac and pulmonary patients. Most sessions are offered in groups; individual therapy is available as needed. Sessions are facilitated by master’s level therapists.

Candidates include patients experiencing:
Anxiety.
Depression.
Other behavioral health challenges.


Dietary

Educating patients on appropriate nutrition and dietary requirements. Most sessions are provided in group lectures, with individual sessions available.

Topics include:
Healthy nutrition (prevention and management).
Psychology of eating.
Heart/lung healthy eating.
Eating for your diagnosis.


Course of Treatment

You will receive an individualized treatment plan designed around your specific needs. This plan is developed jointly with you and the health care professionals providing your treatment. The medical director oversees all patient care from start to finish. Most patients attend two or three treatment visits per week, for a period determined by progress on the treatment plan.
