Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Our patients experience improved self-confidence and increased involvement in daily activities. Through the combination of our staff expertise and our commitment to work closely with patients, we aim to reduce hospitalizations, increase independence and lessen complications of cardiac and pulmonary disease.

Course of Treatment

You will receive an individualized treatment plan designed around your specific needs. This plan is developed jointly with you and the health care professionals providing your treatment. The medical director oversees all patient care from start to finish. Most patients come for two or three treatment visits a week, for a period of weeks determined by progress on the treatment plan.

Smoking cessation.

Increased physical conditioning.
Increased stamina and endurance.
Improved quality of life.
Reduced hospital readmissions.
Reduced length of stay if hospitalized.
Possible reduction in medication costs.

Trained health care providers help improve the lives of people with cardiac and pulmonary problems. Our multidisciplinary team focuses on exercise conditioning, strength training, breathing retraining, diet and nutrition, and emotional support services.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Optimizing patients' physical, psychological and social functioning through exercise conditioning, strength training, diet, relaxation, education and emotional support.

Candidates include those who have experienced:

A heart attack or heart failure.
Angioplasty or coronary artery bypass grafting for coronary heart disease.
A heart valve repair or replacement.
A heart transplant.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation/Respiratory Therapy

Exercise conditioning, strength training, and activities of daily living, education and emotional support for pulmonary/respiratory patients.

Treatment offered for chronic obstructive and restrictive pulmonary diseases, including:

Lung cancer.
Chronic bronchitis.
Interstitial lung disease.

Behavioral Health

Enhancing coping skills and strategies, and providing emotional support for cardiac and pulmonary patients. Most therapy sessions in groups. Individual therapy can be provided as needed. Sessions facilitated by master's level therapists.

Candidates include those who have experienced:

Other behavioral health challenges.

Dietary Services

Educating patient on appropriate nutrition and dietary requirements. Most sessions provided in group lectures. Individual sessions are also available.

Topics include:

Healthy nutrition (prevention and management).
Psychology of eating.
Heart/lung healthy eating.
Eating for your diagnosis.
